upgrading filter: hosing/piping to big?

Hi all,

i would very much like to upgrade my filter because my current one is just not filtering out the little things floating around in the tank.

my problem is that the filter hosing/piping that i have currently is in a quite permanent position and the upgrade filters all have bigger pipping requirements.

if i get an adapter, will it slow the flow rate and is it bad for the filter or is it fine?

cheers

yes guys obviously it's going to be better to use bigger pipes. but it will still be worth upgrading your filter even if your only choice is to use the smaller, existing plumbing. yes it will slow the potential flow rate of the new filter, but the filter will not mind a bit of resistance. if you consider; the bigger the filter, the more area for good bacteria and more space for mechanical filtration. both of those things will benefit your tank.
