disgustipated
i want to know if i can use this for a planted tank. it's a 3 foot long uv light. writing on bulb is reptiglo 2.0 exo terra 36*/91cn. also says "for reptile use only" (hence my query) and it is quite old, at least a couple of years. tank planted with sword, ambulia, val, hairgrass etc, also stocked with small angel fish, loaches, gobys, it is running co2 and currently does not have sufficient lighting. will this reptile bulb help or hurt the plants and/or fish? SamH
it is quite old, at least a couple of years. If it's been in use for two years then just replace it. You can get relatively cheap 6500k 2ft/3ft/4ft tubes from Bunnings.
disgustipated
i'm guessing you're not a single parent with a part time job... if i can't replace it, what do you reckon it will do on the planted tank?

Not a thing other than burning electricity. Plants only absorb a tiny amount of UV light, enough that you can safely ignore it. New tubes are like $5. Go get one or throw the fitting in the closet.
