camtang
Has anyone kept juvi (6cm) geos with Neon tetras? Or will they be snacks at this size?
David R
I'd say they should be ok, though they will sometimes eat smaller fish if there is a big difference in size and they're hungry enough. Just keep them well fed...
hovmoller
I have some cardinals with some S. leucosticta and they are fine. I once had some neons with some G. altifrons and the neons would go missing during the night. The geos never hunted them but I'm guessing that if a little fish gets too close in its sleep the geo will not miss the chance of a little snack. If you are talking about altifrons then I wouldn't do it if I were you
critter_crazy
When my surinamensis were that big I was feeding neons to my borneo in the same tank and the geos definately ate a few - sometimes overnight and sometimes just if they got too close. They couldnt quite fit them in their mouths but would just hold them until they could swallow
camtang
All I know as they are red striped earth eaters at this stage. I am trying to find out more info about them, as I like to know what I own. Thank you all for the advice

Fruju
Risky mix I'd say, Geophagus altifrons certainly are capable of scoffing them down.
camtang
I am swaying away from them at this stage, they would be going in my flatmates tank so A) would hate for them to eat his fish and B) he is moving out soon so I will need to find a tank for them, and I dont have anything of a suitable size hanging about at the moement
