Hi am looking at buying/building a stand to hold a 1800x550x400mm tank (LXDXH) tank will way about 400kg full

would like to get another tank in the future to go on top.

i could made one out of timber but i think i would need a lot of studs and would be impossible to get the bottom one out.

Any ideas what it would cost to make one out of steel??

Have seen these also but a not shore it would stay straight over time

near 400 L of water +50kg for glass +30 to 50 kg for substrate + bits and bobs...

Thanks for you reply

Yer might be abit over 400kgs will not be completely full with water and will have no substrate or bit or bobs.

My tank would weigh about the same, and if I was to place one above it I would think you could make the stand to remove the tank from the end rather than the front

did think about that but that would mean i would have to have 1800mm clear to the side

maybe i could have the top front open because there will be no load above and have 2 900mm tanks below with a steel stud in the middle

Hey man ive got a steel based stand/bench, has adjustable screw feet on the bottom..

Have a look at my link the big stand is 1800 long and ?80 cm wide. the steel frame looks like two of the frames pictured together. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=61330

If it is only 400 high then the weight spread out over the stand won't be that much, and it would be fairly simple to make one from 4x2. Smidey has a fairly good thread in the DIY section (although my personal preference would be for the horizontal runners at the top of the stand to be on edge so the tank is sitting on 4" thick timber instead of 2" thick, especially if the tank was much taller) that would work well for a tank your size, or have a browse thru here for some ideas; http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ...
