Hello everyone

Hi there my daughter and I are new to the 'hobby' (is it a hobby or a lifestyle?) My daughter bought a large tank (340 litres) a couple of months back and we are stumbling our way through the usual mistakes (I suppose) that newbies make. Never realised that there was so much more to keeping fish than looking at them being pretty in the tank! Frantically we are absorbing information from every source possible. And have spent a small fortune getting together all the absolute essentials for a happy healthy tank. I think it is safe to say we are hooked even at this early stage. But we have had some losses due to the fact that we were just far to naive...certainly there will be no more purchases until such time as we have the tank in a more stable state. (The word 'cycling' was foreign to us a couple of months ago :( )

Anyway we are here to stay and keen to learn from others experiences.

Cheers.

Shelley

That sounds interesting when and where was that and how often does it happen? My mother is a keen enthusiast too she has only one small tank now but when I was a child there were tanks all over the house. She has just given my daughter her baby guppies and is starting to talk about where she could find room for more tanks! Our own albino guppy is set to burst sometime soon.....either that or she has been eating far too much breakfast! (which she hasn't). Isn't it exciting!

We have an annual tank and pond competition every February. As our club has members all over the place (including quite a few in Ashburton) we decided to divide the competition into 2 places so they could enter it as well. This worked well. Check out our club album
