I got a very fat female and a male outta a pot luck comp from our club on weds, brough them home, put the female in her own tank, fed her up on BBS, then put the male with her the next night, turned on the lights at 6:30am the next day, left them in there for a couple of hours then removed them.

just aged water, i know rain water is softer, so next time i will use that, however bilbo was just here and pointed out, what my eyes couldnt see, it appears i have more than double the original estimation, so am a bit happier, i spose thats ok for the first ever spawn of tetra ive done.

I thought tetra's had to be blacked out, as they spawned in the dark, is this not so for all tetra's?

Would love to know, as have not had a chance to look up info on my serpae's yet.

No it's not ball. you black out the breeding tanks of some tetras because the fry are sensitive to light before the free swim stage , it will kill them. i' ve never bred serpaes so do not know wether you need to cover the tank or not. but it would not hurt thats for sure.
