bigfishhead
Hi Guys, I was working on this tank for quite while. Mainly because I was trying to DIY a 3D background for it. But unfortunately I failed on that project due to many reasons. So I use background poster to stick in the back of the tank as usual... it looks alright. But it was fun playing with the poly and making mass. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: This is what the tank looks like before clean. It got blue color paint all over the back panel. Greg recognize this is one of his marine tank work 4 years ago... Now he did awesome job on tank reinforcement on this tank. Also add 4 lid easy for feeding and filter connect up. :happy1: Make some mass... Now give up on the background project... at least I can get this tank project move on... into dinning room. LOL 8) After clean put in water and slowly fill it to the top. Water testing for a few weeks. Change the water again and put coral sand and some rocks from my current display tank. Also setup the light. After a bit research I use 2 X 54w T5. one Marine blue and one life glo 6700K. Here is what it looks like with out fish. Going to put my main stock in this weekend. Get a 12000L/H power head to create flow. More photo to come.... After a three hours tank transfer... Most of the time is trying to catch 50+ fish from my 6ft and put them into new tank... Which is not fun  Here we go. :slfg: :slfg: Just bought a 6000l/h wave maker and works great! But looks like to have the best water circulation effect I need to clear most of the rocks away which is impossible for malawis... They love hiding places. Hmmm... It really challenge my landscape skill now... But except that everything is cool. I wake up in the morning and guess what... my fish still alive in the new tank :happy1:
Guest
Any advice on best way to safely transfer fish into this new tank? My 760L is in living room 5m away... So I just need to consider how to move FX5, heaters, water and fish.... I am thinking to put a heater in new tank on Thursday to heat up the water a bit. Then at the weekend, I transfer 40% of the water from 760L to new tank. Then move the heaters, FX5 and air pump into the new tank. Let them run for a hour or two? At last catch all the fish and move them into the new tank. Any advice ?? Thx in advance.
rcon021
You have the correct idea. I would also do a largish waterchange on the old tank before doing the transfer and hold off any feeding till after the change
LYNDYLOO
Tank looks great I would transfer fish over as soon as you have FX5, Air pump, Heaters sorted. Most of your good bacteris etc will already be in your FX5, so you should be good to go. Just maybe get temp of new tank water similar to where they have come from, if going to pop them straight in Could possible check Ph levels to make sure they're similar as well but personaly I wouldn't worry to much about it. Good Luck.

Just to give it a week time to balance everything so I can put it on the new tank as "new". I did water change last Sunday. Feed once every two days. I think I will skip Friday's feed and transfer them on Sat.

Yes, four sides and bottom 12mm. top glass 10mm and lid 6mm. I know it makes water change and catch the fish much more difficult... So I end up use a ladder...  Hope it is stronger enough... :sml1: :sml1: :sml1:
wee2
Hows your CA cichlids? All good? sounds good. but do you not think it is too much I have sold quite a lot as they grow very fast and always face off to each other and splitting water everywhere. ATM, I only have 5 big fish in my 800L with a divider to break it into 2. keeping a breeding pair on one side coz they are so much aggressive. each of them are over 20cm now
