Asphyx
lol 7g = over 4kg for me! Every week! 3g/l seems to be doing the trick. With the ich under control and the chiller everyone is looking very active.
phoenix44
7g a litre is quite a bit! Is that as a salt bath? In a 200L tank, that's 1.4kg of salt!
blueether
Taking the Fish to the People - a guide to creating successful public native aquaria; p10":237b2275]A salinity of 7ppt should be maintained in the quarantine tank for the entire quarantine period. The whitespot parasite is a very common problem for newly-captured native fish and this level of salt can prevent potentially fatal infections. This salinity should also prevent many bacterial and fungal diseases which can arise due to stress or injuries sustained during capture or transport. It is vital that equipment such as nets and siphon tubes are not moved between quarantine and established aquaria as these can spread an infection to other tanks before any of the fish show symptoms. Zev
Just curious to know how you are measuring that you are maintaining the required ppt when you redose and not overdosing?
Asphyx
When I do a partial water change I know how much water I have removed and make sure to dose the top up with the required amount of salt.
