Sophia
There are usually at least one of these in my bugs pond at all times but yesterday I found a few of them. They are made of lots of tiny dots and are formed as a tube. They are hanging from a wisp of some sort of web from some decaying leaves on the top of the pond. I've always wondered what they are - does anyone know?
phoenix44
Snail eggs?
calculator
Snail eggs? +1 I am fairly sure they are the same as the snail eggs I get
Sophia
I thought that too but nope, I had these before I had snails. They aren't freshwater limpet eggs either as I have limpets in my planted tank but none of these dotty things :dunno:
owen
I'm pretty sure they are bloodworm eggs.
Sophia
There are definitely bloodworms in there but I don't see them unless they come out to sunbathe, if you can call it that. If I take one out and put it in a jar do you know how long it would take to hatch?
Nymox
I hope they are bloodworms, I get those in my daphnia culture but I have never seen a bloodworm in there, I will be sifting through the silt in the bottom later to find out though. Fingers crossed I know some fishies who would just love their bloodworms live.
phoenix44
Not snail eggs? Must be evil creatures then!
supasi
+1 to bloodworm eggs. I have these in my critter tank outside also. After a google search I see images that look like what you and I have in our tanks.
Sophia
Mine are now all gone so next one I find may have to be isolated for observation and chomping
