critter_crazy
Over the last couple of months, my tank that sits in the lounge has gone to s***! I don't have time to take care of the plants, gravel etc so it's just a big, dirty, overgrown, rotting mess. I've tried fixing it up a few times but I'm just not happy with it. I'm thinking of emptying the whole thing out and doing a really simple hardscape - like no gravel, just some driftwood and a back ground simple. The plan is something along the lines of the tank below, but with a blue background. Where would I find wood like this? I'm guessing its not something you can just pick up at the store? :dunno:
si_sphinx
You will have to find a dead tree with some nice branches intact. And then you can soak it and peel off all the bark to get it looking clean like the ones above
henward
i find a good tree to work with is Manuka Tree, the branches sink quickly, tannins are harmless and they look good, natural look.
Adrienne
Take the ferry over to Rangitoto - theres lots of wood like this over there or was. The ferry crew don't mind you bringing some back to Aucks.
Sophia
Cornwall Park, lots of oak if you climb the hill a little way and ask the sheep if you can take some of their chewing sticks.
