smidey
i bought a hunting spot light which has a gel cell battery. i have now used it & come to charge it but i cannot locate any instructions. I don't know if there were some or not. my question is how long do i recharge it for? the charger says "auto shut off" on it & "do not over charge". I am unsure whether i should charge for 8, 18, 36 hours or somewhere in between. anyone have any ideas?

Adrienne
did the charger come with it - normally they either have an indicator which changes colour or one that shuts off. From the sound of it it turns off

Pretty sure you can divide the battery capacity by the output current of the charger to roughly get the charge time.. Obviously depends on a flat battery to begin with.. Obviously depends on a flat battery to begin with.. it is a 400ma charger so that must mean around 20 hour full charge from flat. sounds right to me.
