Carlos & Siran
We purchased two kribs today from a tank full of them, taking our time we easily found a female but the male took a bit more time to be sure, anyways after we got them home and transferred them we realised the female had a hugely distended belly and was probably egg laden, we've added a clay pot for her to lay them but are wondering what is going to happen with the male who is unlikely to be the father or her mate. Will they fight or will he try to eat the fry when they hatch?
Jennifer
He will fertilise the eggs when she lays them, and then he will be a proud papa. 8)

Is another krib going to sneak in and fertilize them after she lays them?
livebearer_breeder
They have to "posture up" each other before they will decide if they want to be a pair, female kirbs will re absorb there eggs if there is no partner. If she is ready and they like each other and he is for sure a male then they will breed in there own time.
