My demasoni keep dying in the last two weeks.

I got 10 in total about 3 ~ 4cm.

They share a 200L tank with 8 red zebras 3 ~ 6cm and 5 yellows 3 ~6 cm.

start from two weeks ago until this week. one each week.

I lost three so far.

I do regular 20% water change every week.

I was feed them with flakes. Two weeks ago I start feed them with 1mm NLS pellet.

Is the food cause this? :hail::hail::hail:

Help!!!

If they were getting beaten or stressed their fins would be all torn up and you would notice them getting beaten and hanging out in the top corners of the tank they are tough little fish and does take allot of beating to kill them.

It could be the change of food, while NLS is fine for them, there have been reported issues with sudden changes of food causing bloat. But again you would notice if a fish was bloated because they look quite ill and get very fat and go off their food etc before they die..

Do you have any other clues or symptoms or anything you can offer?

Yup quite weird.

Mine have survived a lack of oxygen in tank when a spray wand fell in and stopped surface movement (they gasp (goldfish style), for anyone who did not know this before) , temps down to 12-14 degrees when I moved house and a typical bloody wellington southerly started up before everything was ready for them and countless other little :nilly: seasons. I am almost convinced a nuclear explosion would not harm them.

If another one dies have a real close look at it. Like Ryan mentioned look at the fins, body or anything that looks out of place. Check water parameters. 20% change isn't much but you never know what is in that clear blue water. Bloat is an option but that is pretty easy to notice.

Post pics if you can. Some of the guys and gals here are cichlid keeping gods and might spot something.

I just finish work and checked today. no more fish dies....which is good.

Yes Ryan you are right. I saw a demasoni hanging around on the top corner of the tank near the internal filter output. He swim vertical and hide in there....

So could be the stress. I checked dead fish carefully and there is no wound and no broken fin or something like that. I was sitting there and watch them for half an hour. It seems like all the fish is trying to hide under the rock. draftwood and plant pot just not interest them. Demasonis are small and always get chased out from the cave and back again.

I think I may just re range the setting in the tank...so everyone got some place to hide.
