iPad 2-is it really that good?

Hey!! :happy1:

I have finally saved enough money to buy an iPad 2(while selling a pocket bike and using all the cash in the bank). I currently have an iPhone 4 and iPod touch 3g and a 24" iMac. I'm a huge apple fan! I've looked at some of the reviews on Youtube and it seems really nice. I would love to hear from anybody that has an iPad(either version) and tell me what you think of it. When first saw the iPad it seemed like an oversized iPod touch IMO but now it's pretty neat can play movies games music(bit unrealistic though?). Also if anyone has one do they own the games like iMovie garage band photobooth ect? And are they sweet?

I like the idea of the smart cover. But what I really don't get is why they didn't design a case with a back on it? Can you use a case with the iPad 2 with a smartcover? Or would it be better to get a screen protector for the back?

Thanks people!

I have a friend who has the 1st iPad and they just brought an iPad 2, IMO after having used both, I would say there is very minimal noticeable difference in the two apart from the 2nd being slightly slimmer.

You are right, it is just a big iPod Touch. I have touch 4g and iPhone and after using the iPad, im going to stick with my iPod Touch.

If I was you I would wait until the next generation to come out, Its supposed to be better.

Hmm yeah it seems pretty cool though. I do a lot of travelling though and watch lots of movies. I guess thats one plus of the iPad. The parents are going to honk kong on monday, and iPad 2s over there are $200 cheaper(might get them to bring me back 2? and sell one on trademe for $949)! I gotta love the exchange rate at the moment! I think I may get it though. I have my plan set out... Every 2 years upgrade the apple product. I've got a 3 year warranty on my iPhone 4 so will wait for the iPhone 6 to come out... Well we will see :P

Yeah Every iPad 2 ive seen on TM is way over priced. Im torn wether to get a black one to suit my iPhone or white because its more apple like :P Yeah in HK they are something like $4688HKD which turns out to be like $730 NZD saving $220. So if i bought one for me and one to sell i'd get a discount of $440  Oh yeah and what colour smartcover? If I got a black iPad id get a black leather smartcover, But if I went white iPad i'd probally go with a polyurethane one. Most likely blue or green. Any opinions or preferences?

Black or white iPad?

Do remember that electronic goods purchased overseas are subject to customs charges, GST etc when they come through the border, chances are they wont notice but it may happen..

They will be more likely to charge you if you have 2 and one, or both, is still all nicely wrapped in the box and unused.

Grant has found it depends on who you get as you come in as to whether they charge you or not. He brought back a lot of electronic stuff, had the receipts and all the paperwork but they just waved him through, even though he had several hundred dollars worth of stuff and well over the limit for not being charged.

Hmm very true. Im only 15 so can you tell me more about the taxes? If you bring it back for personal uses do you have to pay taxes? If so i wont get them to bring back two :S

As Caryl has said it really depends on who you get and how it is presented.. If it is open and being used then it might be ok, but if you had 2 brand new in packaging and were obviously buying them for sale then they may be more likely to charge you tariffs.. It is very much on a case by case how you hold your tongue basis though.

Hey

Thanks for that people! I have found a nice case called the switcheasy canvas. I think I may go for a black iPad in the end :( the case comes in black(and not white) and hopefully will suit very well. But there's still no promises that anyone will have them in stock. Does anyone go to hong kong/Beijing/Xiang/shanghai frequently? And do they know any good apple stores over there? I know they are staying at Tsim sha tsu? In HK. Any apple places are much appreciated as they are getting my sister a MacBook as well :P

Thanks
