Sophia
Does anyone know if my car will fail it's warrant if the high stop brake light isn't working? The regular brake lights work perfectly. LTSA site doesn't give a straight answer on it. I have a vague memory that they are treated as extra, if they don't work you don't fail :dunno: thanks
smidey
FAIL but it shouldn't be hard to fix. probably a bulb if the lamp is still in place.
Caryl
It is a fail definitely as we had that problem once. Ours was attached to the back window so easy to remove, rather than repair, as it had a wiring problem.
ryanjury
Yeah pretty sure they are legally required, but as Smidey said they are very simple..

If you have one that's made up of a couple dozen little bulbs you're allowed to have a couple of them burned out, but it's something like 75% or greater must work. smidey
it is a requirement on cars made after a certain year, if you have a old car then you may get away with it. If it came from the factory with one it must work.
Sophia
ok thanks everybody, I shall divert my husband from his current 'to do list' and set him on this new one edit.......... got bulb out, it's a beautiful shade of charcoal inside and the filament is not attached to the other side anymore... off to supercheap and hopefully problem solved :happy2:
