will.pointon
Hi everyone. I've got some java moss and hair grass on the way and was wondering what is the best way to put it in your tank? I'm planning on growing the moss on the drift wood but also contemplating on making a carpet. Or would the hairgrass be good for this. The hairgrass is coming in a pot so it's been grown out of the water by looks of things. Any ideas on carpets or what to do with these plants. SamH
Tie the moss down in a thin layer to wood or rocks using thread. With hairgrass it's best to split it up as much as possible but bunches of about 12-20 blades should be sufficient. HTH.
will.pointon
Is it true the thread will deteriorate?
antwan
Eventually, but by that time the moss should have a good hold on the wood. I still had cotton under the moss after a year of being in the aquarium.
supasi
It will deteriorate if it is cotton. If it is a synthetic it will not. Hair grass prefers sand or fine gravel rather than pea gravel. HTH
