Nymox
I need some advice on setting up something to breed crickets in, I think I will have a batch of baby bt's in a while and need to get preparations under way. There is plenty of information on the internet about breeding crickets overseas, but I wonder if the black fellows we have here are handled in the same way?. emaytiti
For my crix. I have a cabinet sort of thing thats about 600 high and 300wide and deep. Heated at around 27, by a heat mat underneath. Have a container of sand for laying, mixture of gutload, oats and cat biscuits for food. A tinfoil dish with cotton buds and water for water and also bits of carrot a couple times a week. Started early this month and have a good batch of eggs waiting to hatch.
Sophia
Do they sing much in captivity? Once upon a time a cricket took up residence under the house and chirped most of the night from under the floorboards. It took a few days for him to move out and let us sleep again. alanmin4304
They are noisy and smelly and will probably lay eggs in the "cotton wool."

Sophia
I was seriously laughing at the prospect of noisy and smelly crickets
Jason22
Not probably lol WILL lay eggs in the wool but i don't find it matters. if you going to breed them put them in a shed, if you value your sleep. i find if you clean them out often they don't smell to bad, but it is hard to clean them out when they are little. Nymox
What would be a more sensible option? I don't think I have much time left now shes getting quite big already. I have some meal worms, but my experiences with fish has left me feeling that they are not the healthiest of foods to be raised on. I want these babies to get a good head start in life, so looking to get a wide variety of live foods. I like the idea of the crickets are they seemed easiest to gut load, but nothing was mentioned about the smell, the noise Id expected. Joshlikesfish
I have a small gap between a small tank shelf and under the work bench that I have seen lots of crickets head under. Seen a few decent sized ones and a few small ones in my fish room. May explain why that area is getting a certain pong

Nymox
Yindi is still gaining weight, none of which is in the tail. I am prepared now for young. Would is be such a bad idea to get an ultrasound? Timing is right for her to be pregnant but just incase knowing earlier would be better in the long run right? Incase she has some internal blockage or something.
