jc254 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Share Posted February 12, 2011 Well i was looking at my turtles today and i noticed something funny about there shells so i picked them up. Their shell around the edges is soft? also one in the middle of his underbelly shell has a soft spot? is this normal? anything I should be doing? the tank is 250 liters Sera D3 Reptile bulb 250 Watt serra heater Still waiting on a pump to arrive but hopefully should be Monday any ideas on what could be wrong? repto Posted February 12, 2011 Report Share Posted February 12, 2011 these would be the ones you just got the other day? poor diet and lack of uv light would be my first guess.get some decent food and get them into natural sunlight if you can,other than that a good new uv light tube as low down over their basking area as you can.Feed them calcium rich foods such as small fish with bones(guppies,culled goldfish etc)stay away from red meat,oxheart as even though you can dust it with calcium it will wash off in the water.Processed turtle foods with the calcium added will be better,also float a bird cuttlefish in there,they will gnaw on it to get calcium. The reptile bulb is brand new, id say it could be possibly the diet but im going to walk to organism now and get some calcium floats by hot house.
