arcanine
i have 5 angels in a tank, 2 have paired up and today the female has started laying she layed about 15 eggs then her mate has started attacking her and keeping her away from the clean laying spot. she is desperately trying to get back to lay the rest but he wont let her so shes just started in other spots :nilly: . is he protecting the current eggs? or are they just useless because its their first time? TIA

melrick1
Yeh some muck around for a few spawns and some get it first time. I had the same issue with mine for months and months. When I placed them in their own tank the extra stress factor was reduced and I had 200 little angels buzzing around
arcanine
when is she expected to breed again? 2 or so weeks? they layed on a big cow skull so i cant really take that out so should i take the others out?
melrick1
yeh norm every two weeks or so, make sure you give them enough protien (blood worm or live food). If you want to be safe keep the skull in, but they will always find something else. Mine use to breed on the aquarium glass very well lol
alanmin4304
If you hang a piece of slate near the surface they will probably lay on that.
melrick1
And if you decide to hatch a baych on your own when mummy and daddy are being silly the slate will be easy to transfer into a hatching tank
