ryanjury
I use guppies, they can pick off some fry but not that many the parents are usually pretty good at guarding them, sometimes you can add them and once the fish have settled remove them and the fish stay confident.. Jennifer
Tinwini danio, they are a dwarf danio that are very active. I have used them with apistos many times with no problems. Another idea is Ottos - they move around a lot in a shoal. I am currently using a lot of these with apistos and they actually work great. ryanjury
Be careful with cockatoos though they are not called big mouth cichlids for nothing.. A friend of mine had a male get big enough that he actually ate and chocked on his female who was the same age as him so any smaller fish can end up being food..
