plecs
one of my pepper corydoras has no eyes! Assume one of my more aggressive fish took a liking to them. They are healed over so must have been some time ago, and i guess i am naughty for not noticing. Do you think he will be ok? he is swimming round ok, and as it is healed i assume he will be ok, as long as he can find food. anyone got any experience on this?? thanks, plecs
Ira
He's obviously been ok long enough for them to heal. Pretty good bet he'll stay ok.
lighter
He'll be able to make sure of his whistles to find and sense food, dont worry!
plecs
thanks guys, thought he would be ok, just wanted to check others agreed. poor thing eh! hope the eye eater doesnt get a taste for it and do it to the others! think it was either the black ghost knife fish or the rainbow shark. thanks guys plecs
Ira
Might not have been a fish eating his eyes. Sometimes fish get really bad cases of popeye that essentially blow their eyeballs out.
Caryl
To lighten it up... what do you call a fish with no eyes? A: A fsh  It should be fine plecs. Keep an eye on it though to make sure it gets its fair share of food.
plecs
i had thought of pop eye, or something simular, but would have noticed the buldging eye. Is funny though that he has no eyes and none of my others have even one eye missing. Is there anything it could have been that wouldnt have been so obvious to see happening?? thanks again guys, good to know you are all here to ask these things too! plecs
Ira
That's why I'm thinking more of a disease than just him having BOTH eyes eaten. If you didn't notice them missing, are you sure you'd have noticed them bulging?
plecs
ira, i would think they would bulge quite well before they popped out! vecause of the pepper colouration the eyes look like a pepper spot, so it isnt very obvious unless you look quite close. I regulaly check my fish and am sure that i would have noticed buldging eyes. Unless it happened very quickly one day while i was at work. who knows though, maybe i am a slack fish keeper. Alan_au
Cories have lousey eye sight at the best of times. The never see food cvomming and only go into a mad feed mode when they smell/sence the food near. Then they just zoom around until they bump into something tastey. Definately not sight feeders. so he prolly not in the least handicapped. Alan.
Caryl
It would have been easy to miss plecs if you have a well planted tank.
