i was thinking Linoleum or vinyl

I think vinyl would be too slippery when wet

Well, our 'fish room' (formerly called the 'dining room', lol) has lino, and it's great. Potentially slippery, yes, but we've never had any problems, touch wood! I would worry that carpet (although, to be sure I haven't used outdoor stuff before) would go mouldy underneath and/or smell ...

I would be looking for something that actually insulates and is water proof. I used carpet/underlay in an old fishroom and although it sucked when it got wet it was nice and warm and free.. lol

Rubber flooring works well, you can get pieces that you can stick together from hardware stores, I have heard of people using rubber exercise mats too.

Carpet does go mouldy and smell, trust me :roll:

for any commercial wet areas i supplied joinery to they used vinyl & coved it up the walls to prevent it getting wet underneath. There are plenty of textured vinyls around now to reduce/remove the slipping hazard. it will just come down to cost.
