Zayne
i have seen a few people using 2-3 computer fans sitting on top of tank to agitate the water. How much would this actually help?
Stella
Not sure if it is to agitate the water... Usually is to cool the water through evaporation. Works best on larger tanks with a large watersurface area. Little tanks soak up the heat too fast for evaporative cooling to be effective. It won't circulate the water much at all. That is the job of a pump or filter.
smidey
i thought the ones using computer fans were trying to stop the condensation inside the hood. agitating the water is best done with an air stone, the flow of the filter or with a wave makers or similar pumps. DennisP
Could have been just for the photo. Some tanks look better with ripples across the surface. Not sure though. Could be to stop the build up of surface film stuff.
Ira
Provides a bit of evaporative cooling, blows heat from lights out of the hood, airation or circulation is pretty negligable, but on a tank that is on the edge of overheating it can make a big difference.
