FishBen
Does anyone know the maximum weight the first floor (not ground floor) in a house can hold? Does it variate much in different houses? Any suggestions on ways to find out? I'm sure I don't need to explain why i ask this  Cheers
cessna driver
I've got about 300kgs of tank on mine and it hasn't fallen though, but it is above a wall. I would say it varies a lot depending on the design of the structure and where you want to place it, A structural engineer would be the only one who could give a qualified opinion. Zayne
i think it can depend on how old the house is and where the tank is to be put, next to a load bearing wall is best for bigger tanks

kiwiplymouth
You have seen my 8 footer in my second story lounge. Last Tasman club meeting there was 10-12 people standing in front of it adding another ton of weight to the same floor supports. Need i say more

kiwiplymouth
Nope. Just make sure that the floor joists are running from the wall that you want to use and not parallel to it. Its the floor joists that spread the load.
