Matto
i have noticed that my electric yellows have stopped breeding and my friends cichlids have stopped breeding all of a sudden too is it the time of year or something else? si_sphinx
Must be something else :-? because mine do it any time of the year, including now
smidey
my trophs are going nuts, funny you say that though. i am sure they breed in cycles, last year all of the malawis i had would breed steadily for some parts of the year & not others. ryanjury
Fish sometimes need a break too, I think it would be very hard on the females to be breeding constantly.. I am unsure why they do it but it does appear to happen in cycles. Sometimes a good way to kick start them back into breeding is to change things, usually a big stress will kick them off, or a change in tanks or something like that. firenzenz
I've had 6 spawns since changing things/water changes on monday. E yellows, chilumba and ruby peacock. red Empress and Electra( will halt them) and my two lonely dems have held a truce long enough to make life 8) This is a good time for seasonal breeders like pleco's IMO. Just had good barometric changes along with equinox and ambient temp rising. Feed hard, water change with temp rise and they'll go.
Matto
the tank is at 24.5 atm but they were in a tank around 30, so i will gradually ram it up to 28 if i can
