Ice222
I'm pretty certain it's not a disease, as I couldn't find anything on google that sounded like it, but I'll just double check here. My sparkling gouramis seems to have developed some dark spots on parts of their body, most evidently on the head. They appear to be the same colour as the original markings on the fish but I'm 99% sure they didn't have them when I purchased the fish. Here's a pic, let me know what you think and whether I should worry or not. You can see 2 darker splotches on the top of it's head. All three have developed these spots, although not all in the same parts of the fish. That's the best photo I can get, pretty hard when I only have a camera phone for photos. ryanjury
What are you feeding your fish? Sometimes foods high in spirulina cause these spots to occur and they are harmless..
DennisP
When did you buy it? Fish lose colour when stressed so they blend into their environment.
Jennifer
Mine have all sorts of spots that come and go as they camouflage themselves in the plants. Yours looks pretty normal to me based on that photo but if the spots appear persistent, like wounds or the fish seems unwell there might be something else going on.
