foamy
Any pro and cons? deciding it for my new planted tank for foreground.. need some advice from other ppl.. Thx
SamH
This needs to be moved to Aquatic plants. But I'm going to answer your question with more questions. 1. How much lighting do you have? 2. What sized tank do you have? 3. Do you want a long or short foreground?
foamy
oops sorry wrong post in different place.. mistake.. apologize for it.. tank is 800x400x400 with 4x24t5ho light and with co2 gas bottle system. is dwarf hair grass long? SamH
Glosso under those lights and with CO2 should stay under an inch (2.5cm) where as dwarf HG is usually around 2 inches (5cm). HTH
DennisP
Since hairgrass is so thin, it seems to take longer to form a nice carpet.
SamH
Since hairgrass is so thin, it seems to take longer to form a nice carpet. I've found that it has a sort of "starting time" usually. For me, it takes a month or two for it to become established in my tanks, then it really rockets off. foamy
If either glosso or hairgrass as carpet will it actually affect the catfish that like to search the gravel?
phoenix44
Glosso should be fine. Won't affect the fish.
foamy
woo hoo... time to go for glosso.. setting up a nice iwagumi style tank:)
Bilbo
I like glosso if its grown correctly and kept trimmed otherwise it becomes a bit straggly and where the light isn’t quite as bright it tends to grow taller. I have never managed to have a good glosso tank so I am envious of those who can so I hope it goes well. Is dwarf hairgrass available?? That does look cool when it’s filled in properly and there is a little bit of water movement around it.
foamy
Not too sure.. i can't locate anyone with dwarf hairgrass.. maybe is not available in NZ?
SamH
Usually it's just called hairgrass. Under the right lights and conditions it should stay short.
Joe
Use Lilaeopsis instead of hairgrass. It's way nicer.
