FishBen
Any idea what could have caused this/how to treat it? She's in isolation treated with tonic, she had fungus before, but never as bad as this, usually just a white sheen over her scales.
alanmin4304
Looks like columnarus which is a bacteria and needs treating with an antibiotic. I would use furan2 as it can be obtained from the petshop and does not require a visit to the vet and a prescription.
FishBen
Ok, thanks. Some people recommended applying it directly to the 'wound', like take her out apply it, and put her back in. Any thoughts?
ryanjury
If it is columnarus (or any other bacterial) then you need to treat the water with an antibiotic, if it is fungal then you are best to treat the wound.
alanmin4304
Fungus is usually an oportunistic infection following a wound which has become bacterially infected and normally requires an antibiotic as well.

Adrienne
IMO no. Sometimes you need to use something stronger than an herbal treatment and I think that this is the time.

Adrienne
Furan2 is good. If you don't have any on hand use rock salt in the tank tonight or even methylene blue but put the methylene blue directly on the area i.e. take the fish out of the tank to do it. If you don't do anything, then its pretty certain the fish will die.
