axolotl-danio
Hello I baught an upside down catfish today and here is a picture I took whilst acclimatising it to the tank. Most of the upside down catfish I have seen on the internet are brown coloured but mine is mostly white. I understand there are many species that may be called upside down catfish but the most common is Synodontis nigriventris. The catfish was the same colour in the pet shop so I don't think it is stress from bagging. Is my upside down cat a Synodontis nigriventris and is it normal for it to be so white? phoenix44
syno euptera is what an upside catfish normally is. They grow fast, and get relatively large. I usually get mine at about 2cm and they kinda look like cories at that stage. In a few weeks his colours should set in and then we will be able to give you a proper ID. nigriventris stay small and are considered the real and true upside down catfish and remain very small. They are very shy and do well in groups, and even then remain relatively reclusive.
axolotl-danio
Did a couple of image searches and definantly looks a lot more like Synodontis nigriventris. Will definantly buy a couple more if they get more in.
