Baroness
So I had set up my Juwel Rio 180 after getting it in the weekend, but was unhappy with how it looked. I pulled it apart and learned The Pooper Scooper I bought from Mitre 10 is great for getting gravel out. Sqaure shaped to get gravel from corners, and gaps small enough to stop gravel but let water through. Then I stuck in a Juwel background and terraces and learned Huggies baby wipes are awesome for getting silicone off fingers. Now waiting for tomorrow, I have washed a bag of Daltons sand to put in when the silicone cures 8)
phoenix44
s: why do you have silicone on your fingers?
Baroness
Because when I put the terrace bits in I sealed underneath and behind with silicone and used my fingers to smooth it out.... Is there an easier way?
ryanjury
A bit of spit or water with dish washing liquid on your finger will smooth the silicone out really well without it sticking to your finger It is always a good day when you learn something new, the pooper scooper sounds like a good idea for getting the gravel out. phoenix44
im not sure what you mean by terrace bits, but i don't think any juwel branded backgrounds / accessories are to be siliconed in.
Baroness
It is the structured backgound http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/prod ... hp?id=1554 and the terraces are shaped pieces that fit in the tank to create another level Instructions said to silicone? Stella
Very good idea with the pooper scooper! Will bear that one in mind for the future.
lmsmith
The other thing to do with silicone is use an ice cube. The ice smooths the silicone perfectly, and no problems with getting it on your fingers. Even if you do, it wont stick.
