Go into your device manager, Computer -System properties then device manager find the sound device and right click then update driver and see if that helps

Good luck:)

Did this but it wouldnt update

You most likely need a new driver by the sounds of it you accidently deleted the old one? If you know the name of your sound card, just google for the driver and install.

Do i need this specific driver ? or can i just download a new one.

Are you running a system that creates its own restore points, easiest way is to check where the last restore point is and restore to there.. Only issue is you will loose any data that has been added since then..

Is your computer a shop brought complete system? Or a home made one..

Most of the shop brands have model numbers and complete drivers for each model number can be found on the manufacturers website. If it is a branded one then let us know the make/model and I am sure someone will be able to find the correct driver and link you to the download..

you haven't just muted the speakers eh?

Def havent done that - Was getting rid of a couple of things that i dont use and accidentally hit the remove button on "Sound max control" . But i just thought - dont use it so whats the harm? Harm = no sound now.

Ok, no idea how to do this but will look into it

System restore is easy to find. Go to Start, all programmes, accessories, system tools and under that should be system restore. Follw the instructions to restore it to a previous time. You won't lose data but you will lose anything installed after that time.

You need to get the right one.

Would you be able to tell me if its an All in One Package PC, so like an HP or Compaq that came with everything installed, just plug it in and away you go.

Or did you have to install windows yourself and a bunch of other stuff to get it going?

Either way you should have a few CDs some where. If you lucky you might even have a sound max cd which would make it much easier. Have a look around and see what you can find and let us know.

thanks Nymox. found that too - have just spent the last hr trying to install it but now came up with error : the HDA audio bus driver is required and not found.

ARRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH! might just have to find someone to come around and fix it.

yeah its a little tricky without having a nosey around the device manager myself. There is another way that might work. Go to control panel > device manager then click the + next to the sound, video and game controllers. There should be something there that mentions either your sound card (ADA soundmax) or it will say something along the lines of sound device. Right click on the one which you think is the sound card and go update driver software. Choose 'Search automatically for updated driver software" This should search your PC, CD/DVD ROM and the internet for a driver. Make sure the factory CD/DVD that came with your computer is in the CD/DVD drive before doing so.

If that doesn't work, try to download + run this (no installation required)

http://www.filehippo.com/download_cpuz/ (download button is the green button on the far right of the screen)

And then run it, click on the "Mainboard" tab, and let us know what it says under "Manufacturer" and "Model".

This will help us recommend the exact driver for your system rather than trying to play guesswork with which hardware you've got.

OK - ASUSTek COmputer Inc and K8V-MX

thanks
