Ymir
beginners guide to Co2 diffusers? I am using flourish excel and I have just brought a test kit to see if the carbon level is suitable. What is the deal with Co2 Diffusers? I have a 6ft tank, are they really that necessary or would adding more flourish be ok? The Co2 kits I have seen around are not cheap. So If I don't need to buy a setup it would be good. If i do, what is a the better brands available and what when the minimum requirements for a 6fter be? phoenix44
well for a 6ft tank, DIY CO2 is practically a waste unless you wanted to give say 1 plant in particular more CO2 or something similar. looking at CO2 setups - a pressurised system is somewhere in the region of $400 all up, plus the cost of the diffuser, which can range from $30 - $200 for one that is suitable for a tank that size. I won't bother offering you the diffusers I have, cause they won't be much use on a 6ft tank unless you wanted to have it running under 1 plant in particular. Also, have a think about if you really need CO2 injection. do the means justify the end?
Ymir
thats what I am asking, have no idea. I read about people and their Co2 and wonder. Do I need that too?
Morcs
One of your best options to begin with would be to ensure you have minimal surface movement caused by filtration - that way your are keeping as much of the CO2 you have in your water (given off by fish, and at night by plants)
Ymir
Cheers! I will lower the spray wand tonight. I always thought it was good to have water movement for oxygen to enter the water.
