beckyboo
i have in a 50ltr tank 1 unknown peacock about 10cm. i want something to put with him but i dont have alot of experience with cichlids. i also have a couple of serpae tetras that are doing fine with him and a bumblebee catfish. i want to get a bristlenose to put in there and maybe 2 smaller cichlids or 1 bigger to keep him company without overloading the tank. can anyone give me any ideas?? tia

phoenix44
50L tank? what are the dimensions? peacocks need space cause they fight.
si_sphinx
you need a bigger tank and put anything in there. questioning the survival of the tetras if you add more cichlids tho
ryanjury
Yep the tank is too small to add anything else with that fish really, you may get away with something completely different like an electric yellow or something but it still wont be a very good sized tank for it.. beckyboo
will do dimensions tommorow as the tanks in my girls room. we dont see the peacock cos he hides in a log all the time. hes has more than tripled his size since we got him easter last year. thought someone to give him company would maybe bring him out a bit more but dont really want another peacock cos yes i know they do fight. what about a couple of dwarf cichlids? something that doesnt get huge and wont fight with him. not too concerned about the serpae tertas. they got put in with him because they were fin nipping the guppies and angels etc in the big tank so they can give as good as they get lol. would love to get a 500litre tank and put cichlids in it but money doesnt grow on trees unfortunatly. Start saving I don't think a dwarf cichlid would do so well. Maybe a slower growing cichlid. yellows are best at bringing shy fish out IMO but maybe only one until you get that 500ltr
ryanjury
I wouldn'd be too keen on a dwarf cichlid with him, maybe a couple of kribs I have had and seen them with africans a few times and they seem to go ok. Maybe another option would be to rehome him and redo the tank with something that is more suited to the tank size and comes out?
beckyboo
i dont know if i want to rehome him he is such a pretty fish. but i dont want to be cruel and let him live his life in 50litres of water. would he do better if it was a 100litre tank? i have a spare sitting in storage somewhere
