Mr McFish
I woke up during the earth quake this morning and found my corys spawning. There are about 20 eggs all over the glass. What do I do to hatch them? I have no spare tanks.
Mr McFish
Ok the bn was bout to eat them so I tryed to scrape them off wiith a spatchular and then they wouldn't unstick so now I got 30 cory eggs with plastick cuttlery in a liter margerine container floating in the tank. How do I tell if there fertile?
oeminx
If they are fertile then that will go a brown colour over the next few days, the are quite strong you should be able to pick them off the spatula with your fingers. Mr McFish
Cool thanks are the eggs light sensative and what food do you feed them I go at micro worms culture now and Decap brine shrimp coming soon. I hope mine are fertile as I want a school instead of a pair.
oeminx
A school of them is so cool to watch especially at feeding time . Yes I believe the eggs are light sensitive but to be honest I have never done anything special with the eggs just what I do with killie eggs. In a container with meth blue. As for food, Micros are perfect, in my opinion the best food for Cory fry.
Mr McFish
Cool as I just found another lot of eggs. Atleast if they don't hatch I know I could try again. How long do they take to hatch?
Mr McFish
Ok They still apear to be going have I removed the eggs to early?
oeminx
Egg hatch time is 4-5 days, and I would let the eggs harden off for an hour or 2 before removing them.
Mr McFish
Cool thanks how many eggs are a normal amount? they just keep going. I counted like 40 then gave up. I don't have any meth blue will the eggs be all right?
oeminx
O the number of eggs can very a lot. I have had just 10 from one pair to 50-60 but have hear of then in the 100s Meth blue helps alot but with out it just keep a close eye on the eggs and remove any going white. Caryl
Ha! Perhaps it wasn't an earthquake - it was just those corys getting jiggy wid it!

oeminx
Nothing to out of the norm, what type of corys are they I'm guessing bronze or pepped.
Mr McFish
Yeah just bronze corys.
Mr McFish
Ok I have one container with 60 or more eggs, 1 with 20 and one with about 14. I thought I should have a few containers in case I miss a fungus egg in one and they spread. What size tank should I grow them out in if they hatch? Also will guppies be allright growing out in with them? Also will this be a male and female pair or am I going to find out later it was 2 females?
oeminx
They are easyish to sex, how big are they? Guppies should be ok with them growing out if the Corys have a short head start. The grow out tank size depends on how many hatch
Mr McFish
About 6 cm ish one is very fat the other is a lot slimer I read that the fat one is likely to be female. The skinny one was all over the fat one, rubbing its head all over her tummy area.
oeminx
In all likely hood you have a pair.
