MarkLB
I think it's Gas Bubble Disease....have a look here, about half way down the page, there's a pic that shows similar blisters. Quote from the website linked above..."Gas Bubble Disease is caused by a sudden dramatic change in gas pressure in the aquarium. This can happen by changing too much water at one time or by adding cold water to the fish tank. Gas bubbles form in the fins and skin of the fish. The bubbles look like blisters and are very easy to see. The skin will crackle if you run your finger across it. If not treated in time, gas bubbles in the bloodstream will kill the fish. The treatment is to add alot of aeration to the aquarium. Lights should be left off to minimize stress. If you see alot of bubbles that have already popped, consider adding a general antibiotic to guard against secondary infection"

beckyboo
thanx mark. have already added some melafix (one of my favs as it seems to work on most things) will go and put an airstone in now. would you recommend a small water change tommorow? had one planned for today but didnt get round to it. was mainly just to suck up the poop off the bottom. MarkLB
You're welcome A small waterchange won't hurt, 25% maybe, and it would probably pay to warm the water to the same temp as the tank.
beckyboo
hey mark just wondering how long it will take for this disease to disappear? (if you know) finally got round to a water change today (got food poisoning yesterday) and made sure water was the same temp as tank water. have had an airstone in since thursday night. fish only has a few more small blisters and the bigger blisters dont seem to be so tight anymore but just curious as to when the healing process will be done. MarkLB
Hi beckyboo. I'm sorry but I don't know how long it may take to go away. You've probably done it already but if you haven't Google the disease and read as much as you can about it.
