bobo
Hey guys, I have a small outbreak of snails in my tank (little white ones). However, I don't believe I have the room for a school of loaches (it's only 60l). Are there any loaches that are smallish, and can be kept by themselves, rather than larger groups? I had heard that yoyo Loaches fit this criteria, but I don't entirely trust the info., Cheers
bdspider
Try making a snail trap instead. Either use the search function, or someone will tell you how in here ;-) I know it's a bit more effort to keep emptying the trap, but the loach will just leave the empty shells littered about. There's people out there that will pay for your unwanted snails, to feed their pufferfish. (depending on snail size I suppose) Good luck anyway. N1CK
Yoyo loaches grow to about 12-15cm, but are one of the best eaters of MTS, zebra loaches grow to 7-8cm but loaches are genreally schooling fish and need a minimum of 3 not sure about their snail eating abilities this could work if you were willing to buy a few smaller loaches (at least) regarding the snail trap that would also work if you you can also get one off trademe but im pretty sure if you shove a bit of cucumber/similar in there overnight and pick it out in the morning it will be covered in snails (I think)

Zebra loaches eat snails very well indeed.
bobo
hmmmmmmmmmmm Selling snails... maybe I'll try the catchin. I certainly can't stick a bunch of loaches in my tank; was just hoping there was one type that was 'solitary'. Cheers for the replies guys
