Jfishfanatic
Hi everyone just wondering what tail type this male fighter would be? I was thinking a Rose tail, but would like other peoples opinions. Parents were both HM. Thanks.
N1CK
has his tail always been like that? or is it ripped It could also be a defect..... Any chance you could link to a bigger picture??
Scottie841
From those pics I would say it is a deformed HM unless he has ripped it on something
SamH
Rosetail or a developing HM/SD maybe? Does look like he's had a rip in his tail along the lines
Nymox
Yeah looks like a rip on a HM. Have to say though I love his colouring.
Jfishfanatic
Found this interesting link about Rose tails; http://bettaterritory.nl/BT-AABRosetails.htm I originally thought it was fin rot, but now I'm not sure. I guess time will tell. Will update photos in a few weeks time.
Adrienne
I would say he's a dt cross. Is he yours? I have rosetails but they don't have the distinct split that he has half way down the tail.
Jfishfanatic
Yeah from the same spawn as the HM males you have. I guess his parents could of carried DT genes. He could through interesting offspring. Will see if the split becomes more defined and the caudal tail has a non-serrated edge.
twinkles
i have a crowntail boy who is almost doubletail, but not quite, the end/outside of his tail has a slit like that, then it joins, then there's a split closer to the root, so its only a few mm where its joined in the middle. When he's not flared it just looks like a rip in his tail, then when he flares it you can see the funny gap through the middle. Is he young? Might just have to wait and see if it starts growing back or gets more obvious.
Jfishfanatic
That interesting with your CT. He does have a split in his tail but it doesn't continue to the root. He's still pretty small in size, so will see if he develops much. At this stage he looks like he carries Double tail & Rose tail traits.
