Aquatopia
Just a question about these poly pads that are supposed to remove ammonia - if you have them in the tank, surely the filter will never get started as the bacteria will not have anything to feed on and therefore the filter wont ever get up and running enough to support the fish you are putting in? phoenix44
They merely convert the ammonia into the less/ non toxic form. The chemical process for cycling still occurs, but is slowed down. HTH
Aquatopia
And does it prevent the fish from getting sick in the meantime?
phoenix44
in theory... yes. it is far easier to let your tank naturally cycle though.
