trace&steve
i have a rather large male frontosa that needs a new home i brought him and he was rather skinny im getting him back to good health but then cannot keep him as i feel its horrible to have him by himself!!! plus it just doesnt look right after seeing them as a colony!!!!! when i brought him he was in a 3 foot tank with an electric yellow cichlid,,, hes about 20cm would be a great addition to a frontosa colony!!! trace&steve
oh buggar.. hes way to big for our tank we have african cichlids and they freaked out when we put him in plus seen photos of a big frontosa it had bit a electric yellow in half!!! so i couldnt risk that happening,,, when we went to pick him up he was in a gotty green slimy tank which was 3 foot if that there was a electric yellow in there to with some clown loaches,,, the big boy could hardly move....he was so skinny the old owner said that he would only feed him very second day one block of blood worms and he would disolve it before throwing it in so the poor thing didnt look good so being me i had to take him and safe him thinking he would be in a 700 litre tank heaps of space but now hes in a 4foot by him self!!!!! now hes eating 3 blocks plus some pellet !!!! hes on the mend do you know of anyone else that would be interested im keen to swap Aw, I would love too, but my boy will not except him in, he will kill him. Can I ask why you brought him if you wasnt gonna keep him? They are awesome fish! :-)
trace&steve
he was listed on t/m the guy i got him off said he was 3 years old!!! yeah i was thinking of getting some sinking pellets,, though the old blood worm would fatten him up a tad ok so more of a treat.... he had nice pics on t/m but must of been photos from years back oh well ill get him all good again hes a awesome looking fish ive never had a frontosa before... looks odd seeing one by himself he needs to be with other frontosas hopefully someone will want him!!!! thanks for ya info :bounce: :bounce: I dont know of anyone in ChCh sorry. Glad to see someone rescued him then! Good on ya! Did ya find him in a LFS or somefing? Or was it one of those times you go to buy somefing else at a person place and you seen him like that? Ive dun that a few times now. How old is he do you know? Find that wierd that a Frons ate a E.Yellow? I see pix often wif them living together! Mine have ALWAYS lived wif E.Yellows, or Young Cichlids, never eaten anyfing! :-) But if they are not fed right I guess the fish that ate the E.Yellow was juss trying to survive? Try giving him Shrimp or Prawn. Even better, NLS, Tetra Bits or JBL Sinking food. Bloodworms are not really good for them, more used as a Treat! Like feeding humans chocolate. trace&steve
yeah bit of a random purchase aye  we have alot of tanks and cichlids  just wanted a frontosa but not that big lol our trademe name is gizzmo11 we are selling a ornate bircher at the mo so if you looked up that and found our user name the frontosa auction is in my feed back should be at the start as ive only had him for a week!!!!!No hassle at all, always willing to help! :-) Yes, lots of Frontosa Breeders I have heard have had probs when feeding Frons Bloodworms all the time, once a week or so is ok. Mine LOVE Shrimp and King Prawns. :-) Also a decent Pellet. They definately the sort of fish that needs good care and the right ph\tank etc. Oh! Okies, you got him from TM, right, juss read the other posting you had also, lol. Can I ask why you brought him in the first place then? Or was it a random purchase? Do you have a link to TM Auction, is there pix there?

ryanjury
I would be careful when trying to home him into an existing colony they may well not take too well to him, but I have also seen a few male fronts being sold because they are too aggressive towards other fronts, and they were sold on the proviso that they never went into a front tank as they would probably kill all the others..
