SamH
Yush! The BN eggs hatched today, quite a few of the little fullas holding onto the driftwood, one was over by its mum but not there anymore. Luckily I noticed the eggs a few days ago, evac'ed the fish and covered the filter intake. They're so cute!

SamH
Thanks lmsmith, I've had this pair since they were unsexable but they've only spawned twice before, didn't even notice the eggs the first time.
si_sphinx
sorry a bit off topic but i was just wondering something... ...in the stunning planted tanks that you see pictures of in competitions, how do they keep the white sand nice and clean and bright. you always see the sand algae free and clean, do they clean it before photos are taken or is it just well maintained?
SamH
I'm not sure about the sand but they usually have very short photo periods with strong lighting and plenty of CO2 to keep alage away.
phoenix44
some of them also either add more sand to the tank, or siphon off the top laye4r of sand.
SamH
The tank is swarming with these little guys. They've only spawned twice and the max I've saved is 15 so seeing hundreds of little babies shooting back to the driftwood when I walk past is mind boggling. N1CK
awesome, any chance you could sell me some if you can get them to grow up and how long is that one in the pic???
SamH
Thank you for asking N1CK, I obviously can't keep them all, probably none at all even. If the amount in there at the moment all survive, they'll be going for cheap as. I don't plan on moving them, water looks good, no predators and they have plenty of food so I don't see why they wouldn't survive. The one in the pic is really small, maybe 10mm max total. SamH
Thanks Jennifer, I was prepared this time and thankfully had enough tanks to move extra fish to. Looks like it's going to be a great spawn.
N1CK
Any chance I could borrow your pair then stick them in my tank then give them back once they have spawned 8) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
