female guppies dead from too many fry?

just wondering if any one knows why 3 of my female guppies have died 1 day after another

, they were really fat and pregnant and looked as if they had alot of fry,

but the females did not release them , and their anal area were popping out alot.

i didnt know what to do with them or if they had a problem or not so i left them,

after looking at them later after school, i saw that they had developed red colour like internal bleeding of some sort,

and they were hardly swimming , laying on the bottom of the tank.

3 have died so far from this, and its sad because it seems that nothing can be done, because the females are holding on to the fry too long , maybe getting to big and stuck?

i''m starting to get concerned about one of my guppys too.. about 10 days ago she had a couple of fry but remained fat and has not had the rest. She is getting huge now and I can see the fry inside her.. she's golden so it's easy to spot their little eyes and balled up bodies.

I have read that females can sometimes die after birth but I'm beginning to worry she'll even give birth!

There are 3 females and 2 males but the males mostly ignore her in favour of different female.

I have lots of guppies and this problem reared it's ugly head with me. Although I do not think I have totally conquered the issue in hand I find that regular water changes has definitely helped to the point where my losses are minimal.

I'm guessing that all 3 females wouldn't have died from being overly pregnant...maybe one...but as you stated, all three died within a few days of each other. I believe that they have were suffering from some kind of internal parasites.

How many fish remain in the tank? How many are females who look like they are pregnant? I would suggest keeping a close eye on the remaining fish for any similar symptons so that you can catch it and try some treatment before they croak.
