Mel
Would discus and angels go ok together? anyone ever tried?
ryanjury
Supposed to be a bad mix because angels are supposed to carry hex which wastes discus.. Angels also tend to be alot more aggressive stressing the discus out, and more dominant stealing all the food.. This is one subject that returns alot of info on google if I was you I would google and do a heap of reading
LYNDYLOO
I have seen pics of Discus and Angels together, not sure if I would do it personally though. Angels can be quite Territorial but then again so are some of my Discus
Mel
Cheers for that Ryan, you've made my mind up NOT to do it It was only a thought though I have a third discus that is getting picked on so I just thought maybe he'd be ok in with the angels. I may just have to try rehoming him I think or get a couple more :-?
LYNDYLOO
I too have a Discus that is being picked on by the others Mel. This is the one that I had in the Hospital Tank for a wee while, all he seems to do now is hide at the back of the Tank Think I might take him out of the Main Tank in a couple of weeks, after my new Discus comes out of Quarantine and pop them in together. My New Big Boy is doing great, I've got him in with a couple of Guppys just to see how they cope with the higher Temps, hoping to pop all of my Guppys in with him soon. Thought he would have eaten the Guppys by now to be honest, but he just watches them swim past him Good Luck with your Fella, awful seeing them get picked on, my Bigger Guys chase the smaller one away at Feed Times so all he seems to do now is hide out at the Back of the Tank in the dark
David R
Its been done before, but you'd want a big tank...
Aquila
I have seen several tanks on YouTube that seem really successful with discus and angels. I think the secret is to have a big tank, and to have discus in a really big group and only a few angels (which should be bought smaller then the discus). This way the angels are slightly intimidated to attach the discus because they are outsized and outnumbered. Don't know if they will become super brave when they get bigger but I guess you could always give them away if they do.
