Morcs
I love my canister. Ill probably buy another one to replace the built in unit on my aquaone tank (they are pants) but I cannot figure out how to clean the damned tubes. The rigid ones like the intake tube arent a problem. Its the flexible-rigid long tubes that are about a meter long. They have a lot of gunk on the inside, and my filter itself never gets that dirty, so Need a way to clean them! Any ideas/tips? cheers
Caryl
The Bonn Brush man has bottle brushes of various thicknesses. Tie one to a long bit of wire. Fluval (or Eheim) make such things you can buy
alanmin4304
If you put your hoses to the outside tap and blow the water against the normal flow it gets rid of most of the gunk.
smidey
The Bonn Brush man has bottle brushes of various thicknesses. Tie one to a long bit of wire. Fluval (or Eheim) make such things you can buy I use heavy nylon fishing line with a small sinker on the end to feed the nylon through then pull the brush through. I don't do it too often as the hose cleans most of it out. make sure to flush the taps & impellor on the canister to.
MarkLB
I use a length of garden twine and tie a knot in it until it's similar in size to the inside diameter of the hose. Commonly known as a 'Pull Through'
WEKA
I had a 14 metre length of very dirty hose that had dried on. I stuffed a piece of that green pot scrub stuff in the end and put it on the hose tap and blew it thru a few times. Looks just like new. ryanjury
I use curtain wire to push a piece of rag through the pipes
Jenna
Redwood Aquatics here in Christchurch stock a special brush which I keep meaning to pick up. it is $6.95 and is almost a metre long. They have a listing for it on the auction site, just search fish for brush or tube brush.
Bilbo
I use rope twice as long as the longest hose with a knot in the middle with a rag tied to it. Not really pretty but it works great.
Scottie841
I have a 1m long brush with a brush on eash end and the wire is a tigh spring that is stiff but flexiable enough to get around bends. I think from memory it was $7 from j'ville care vets. The best thing for cleaning them in my opinion
David R
I just ignore it and hope it goes away.
