Caper
With help, I have the start of my stand. Top frame and bottom frame made with 2x4's and to be glued with carpenter's glue (not quite finished). Will post pics soon. The man at the store said I "didn't" need to make an entire frame of 2x4's that I could just wrap with 3/4" plywood. What are your recommendations on this, just using the plywood??? I've been looking at diy stands on the net for weeks know, think my eyes are know rectangular  Caper
livingart
that thickness of plywood would work ? depending on size of tank? and being screwed and glued personally i would use 4 x 2's and ply it is better to over design than under design
suphew
Plywood is also very expensive, it will be far cheaper to use 4x2 and thinner plywood. If possible you should also get marine grade plywood. Standard plywood will delaminate if you get water in it.
Caper
Thanks for the advice livingart the stand will be for my 4' long, 13" wide, 20" high tank. Okay going to use 2x4's. This picture is from Cichlid Forum.com: This is the bottom frame. Now this stand is much larger than mine. But I was wondering: 1) Can I put plywood on the bottom frame like this? If so, do I use nails or screws? Do I need to glue? Thanks, Caper
