JarrenB
ok so I have looked on the net (googled CO2 in aquariums) and found lots of pages each using sugar, water and yeast. The problem is that each site gives different amounts of the ingredients needed. Any "tips of the trade" on how much of what, and/or is there a better way of making CO2 for plants

Romeo
1 major tip. If your tank is under 120 litres, use Flourish Excel. I've used DIY CO2 before and it was a bit of a mission. I used the Jello DIY CO2 method and it lasted a good 6 weeks, but gave up on it at that stage.
