Brianemone
thats for a double end mh (but only 10k bulb) the pc's i was refering to were at jansens and hollywoods the thing is that you need to buy the fitting and then the bulb with the clour you want because the bulb they come with is quite low kelvin (and they arent that high quality)
wasp
Hi Pies - It's what Brian said, he took a look at the MH. I wouldn't nessecarily agree with the heat thing. MH SEEMS hotter because it's concentrated in a small area, and people normally think about the heat from something like a 250 watt MH, but watt for watt, 250 watts of flouro will make a fair bit of heat also. Pies
Wasp - The heat is far hotter on MHs. One of my 250DEs makes a lot more heat than all 4 of my 85watt T5s. Thats why the PCs are so popular on nano/small tanks, Less heat.
jetskisteve
have to agree my halides melted my acrylic top i had on when i was working on my tank :-? also the ballasts under my tank keep it toasty, which is good in winter!

Fay
I wanted T5s but was told they only come as small as 3ft my tank will be 2ft square. and I want to sit them inside the top band. P.S. The room has windows all round but well vented, I hope I wont have any trouble with the tank because of this, but it might help with the lighting. Pies
There are 2ft T5s. Ask JetSkiSteve I think he got some or is getting some 3footers for his tank. Easy soultion though, bigger tank
jetskisteve
i have 2ft T5's on my tank.
Fay
Where did you get it from and are they better than pc
Pies
FAY - T5s and PCs are the same thing in that T5 denotes how round the tube is. A t5 tube is the same width as any other PC light (like the ones you get at home). If it was my choice I would use T5s YMMV.
Brianemone
if you have the option to go with t5's id do it, come to think of it i might get one for my tank

Fay
Got the T5s cost more than the PCs it only came with a controller unit so will have to fix it to the top band. It has two tubes marine white and marine blue actinic both 24w will this be enough light? Tank 600x600x550high
Brianemone
for an anenome ? :-? not sure. how high up are you going to have it?
Pies
Fay - It will be fine, but not great. If you can fit more light, throw more on there, but it should be ok, its not a very big tank. Piemania
