Romeo
Hey all, was down at a local creek today and came across this plant growing submerged. Just wondering what it is? I took some to throw in for Yabbie to nibble on, hopefully it's not poisonous [or illegal to take]! Cheers, Romeo
Zev
I would hazard a guess a watercress - Nasturtium microphyllum/officinale.
Romeo
Excellent, that's what I was hoping for :] Cheers, Romeo

Romeo
Just to confirm, it's not harmful to my Koura? I'm guessing no, since humans often eat it with pork and puha.

fishbreeder
could i grow watercress in a tropical tank? where would i get some?
alanmin4304
I don't think it would grow too well in the heat and it generally grows mainly emersed.
whetu
mmmm... watercress and Marmite sandwiches! :bounce: Romeo next time you're down at the creek you should get some for yourself! (But wash well before eating... most creeks aren't as clean as they should be)
alanmin4304
It is a great plant to use in combination with a lot of things eg bacon bones, pork bones, mutton birds, koura.
Romeo
Just thought I'd mention that this stuff has been growing really well submerged since I got it. The ol' Koura's been nibbling at it daily and it's still going strong. A bit shredded in places but it's proving to be very resilient!
