Matto
i am wanting to get some t bar cichlids to put in my 120l tank with angels, Nicaraguan cichlids and a red spot pleco, will they live with each other OK or is it a bad idea? Matto
will they fight?
David R
Its a bad idea because your tank is already too small for the fish you have. If you got rid of the pleco and replaced the nics with sajica it could work. I'd only recommend keeping male sajica though, they're as prolific and protective as convicts when it comes to breeding. They can be nasty but they might leave the angels alone, although in a small tank like that it may be best to pick one or the other.
Matto
so it is too small for 6 fish?
phoenix44
at that size yeah. too small. what you need is a nice 6footer! :bounce:
Matto
sorry it is actually 140 liters who is just gonna give me a six footer without me going broke cause that would be my 3 years of pamphlet money gone !!!
phoenix44
hmmm... what are the dimensions of the tank?
Matto
it is a aqua one 620t tank ,140 liters i am unsure of the exact measurements
phoenix44
yeah, id avoid them personally. the tank is too thin. if it had length you may have been able to get away with it.

Matto
i will try but have no idea how at the moment
David R
so it is too small for 6 fish? If the fish grow to 20cm+ like the nics do, then yes. The sajica would probably be your best bet for that tank, IMO its too small even for the angels.
Matto
i hope they will be fine or else who has a cheap 200l or more tank
ryanjury
I wouldn't do it either.. I haven't kept the t bars or nic's but those tall tanks are no good for cichlids really not enough floor space for them to all setup their own turf, no matter how passive they are once they mature they will require space and there wont be enough for everyone in that tank
Matto
they are only 45mm at the moment so i may be able to let them settle in and get a bigger tank when they are bigger
firenzenz
As with the others I'd say tank is wrong shape for all those fish. I have a full grown breeding pair and they are lovely little fish and are not dissimilar in attitude to their convict cousins as David has said, altough are way more colourful and perhaps not quite as Bolshy. They are great parents In your set up, with plenty of plants, wood and even surface covering plants I'd say the angels will be fine , and when sajicas get bigger and you get a pair they will probably take over the bottom of tank, which shouldn't worry Angels too much. Agree with getting rid of plec and nic as they will run out of room. Maybe throw in some cheap dithers for a bit of interest.

Navarre
If you are not paying teh bill then set up a tank with something you cna help cover expenses. That way you can keep cool fish, and have somethingthat difers cost. Prove to your dad that is a win win...you know like keeping you off the internet and is moderately cost even (lol, lmao) but you get teh idea I hope.
