mj
would it be safe to put these in my african tank - or should I soak them in thinners, scrub off all the paint then boil, leave out to dry for a LONG time? these are rocks that have been outside in the weather for at least 6 years that I am aware of [edit] this should really be in beginners or DIY I guess
Ira
Should be ok, the soaking in thinners would probably make the rocks unusable. Most relatively recent paints are pretty much non-toxic.
whetu
Personally I wouldn't use painted rocks in my tank. Are these rocks really so valuable that it is worth putting them in, rather than spending a bit of money on some new rocks or picking some up that aren't painted? They must be pretty special rocks! Caryl
I feel the same. Especially as you don't know what sort of paint it is.
