billwilson
I was wanting to use limestone to cover the backwall of 1.8 by .75 tank and am looking for a cheap source in the Auckland region. Also can i just silicon glue it to the back wall or should I put up some sort of plastic frame to hold it. Thanks for your help Bill
firenzenz
Either way that weight will be issue I would have thought. Have you explored fabricated options? 'Rockwork" has some nice example of fabricated landscaping. If you are looking to use this as a buffering device there are less complicated options. Apart from that I would love to see the outcome should you go with this option.
billwilson
I haven'y heard anything back from rockwork as that looked the best option. I did also think about fabricating a background out of polystyrene and concrete but thought the chance of spending a lot of money and ending up with a big mess were too great. diver21
is concrete a good idea in a tank? i allways thought that there was some sort of issue with it and that it needed to be sealed quite well
ryanjury
Have you considered just painting the back of the tank and putting some pieces of limestone or crushed coral in to buffer the water? This my tank and the huge rock piles that I used to build, gave up on it as the fish seem to do well with minimal hiding places and I got sick of having to take all the rocks out to catch a fish, I was also having heaps of hybrid babies surviving because of all the hiding places so had to get rid of them.. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f183/ ... 00x600.jpg I would like to give building one a go at some stage too I think they look wicked but a bit worried about painting it etc Maybe one day. Concrete raises the PH not a problem for the africans
